Who was Ray Atkeson?
An American photographer celebrated for his images of the Pacific Northwest, and among the finest chroniclers of skiing's early decades. His black-and-white photographs capture the sport in its golden age, from wooden skis and wool sweaters to the first chairlifts climbing into deep snow, and they lend the set a note of timeless mountain romance.
